INTERVIEW ON LAUNCHING A LUXURY BUSINESS PLATFORM FROM SCRATCH WITH
“When you have an amazing idea, and you establish it, if it has legs, it’s like build and they will come. Almost as if, you know, they were waiting for a platform like ours. And I never would have thought a platform like Harrods would come to us. So it just goes to show, that you’re never too big to take part in marketing and rebranding. The key message is to keep looking for different avenues in which you can grow”.
This week, I interviewed the wonderful Yasmine Torab, of 5 Star Wedding Directory and blog. Established over 15 years ago, the directory was the FIRST online directory for luxury weddings and events and it has now grown to be one of the best in the world. They have listings from suppliers in every major city in the world, with every client carefully vetted and the listings carefully curated. I first met Yasmine shortly after she started the business with her husband Tai and what struck me was how genuinely nice and helpful she was. Yasmine began her career in the luxury events industry more than fourteen years ago. Working at the original ‘Grand Hotel’ The Langham in London’s West End, Yasmine gained considerable hotel world experience by organizing Presidential, Ambassador and Royal events.
It was while working with the some of the world’s best suppliers that Yasmine found a gap in the luxury wedding industry – a lack of central hub where brides and planners could exclusively search for the elite and most highly recommended suppliers, from haute couture wedding dresses, remarkable venues, gourmet cakes, stylish photography and fabulous flowers, to the most sought-after wedding planners.
It is clear to see why the 5 Star Wedding Directory keeps going from strength to strength. Yasmine truly lives her core values of honesty, and integrity, putting her clients’ best interests at the centre of all she does. That’s why I have stayed a client and will continue to be a client for many years to come.
